Russians do not love sedans and hatchbacks any more


For the last 12 years, the share of Russian car owners who prefer sedans has dropped by almost one and a half time - from 47% to 30%. This is evidenced by the data of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT". Hatchbacks are also chosen substantially less than they were chosen 10 - 12 years ago. Then they had 23 - 25% of the market, and in 2019, only 15% of new car buyers chose hatchbacks of various brands and models.

The Russians focused their attention on crossovers and SUVs (SUV segment). If in 2017 it accounted for 17% of the market, now it occupies 43%, that is, it has increased 2.5 times. Inside the SUV segment, the “layout” is as follows: subcompact and compact (SUV A / B) accounts for 28% of the crossover market, other 42% of Russians choose mid-size (SUV C) and about 30% choose large crossovers and full-size off-roaders (SUV D / E).
