Jaguar replaced the main designer

Julian Thompson was appointed Jaguar Chief Designer and he is currently Creative Design Director. Mr. Thompson will start his new duties from July 1st, 2019, reports the press service of Jaguar Land Rover.

As a creative design director, Julian Thompson was responsible for developing strategic design directions for future cars of the brand. Since joining the Jaguar brand in 2000, he oversaw the development of design concepts for each product of the whole brand range. Julian began his career at Ford in the British Danton. Then he became the chief designer of Lotus, after which he headed the exterior design department at the Volkswagen Group design center.

In the new post, Julian Thompson will replace Jan Callum, who is leaving his post after 20 years of working with a British brand. Since joining Jaguar in 1999, Jan Callum created a team of real world-class professionals, developed a new design philosophy and presented the world with British cars that have won numerous international awards. Among them, the F-Type is the first two-seater sports car from Jaguar, released since the end of production of the E-type - as well as the XE, XF and XJ sedans and the first brand SUVs - F-Pace, E-Pace and the recently introduced all-electric I-Pace. The first 12 years of his professional career Jan Callum worked in the design studio Ford. Then he became the chief designer of TWR Design, where he was responsible for such models as Aston Martin DB7, Vanquish and DB9.
