The market of new convertibles has fallen 2 times in Russia

According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", by the results of 4 months of 2019, 53 new cars in the body of "convertible" were sold in Russia. It is less by 50% than a year before. Sales of cabriolets in our country are traditionally seasonal in nature, so it is not surprising that more than 70% of purchases of cabriolet were in April, when the Russians purchased 38 such cars.

According to the market volume, in the brand rating the numerical advantage is on the side of Porsche cabriolets, which displaced the leader of 2018, Mercedes-Benz, to the second place (20 against 15 units).

In the model breakdown, almost a third of convertibles (34%), sold for 4 months, fell on the Porsche Boxter. In quantitative terms, it is 18 units (-5.3%). In second place there is BMW 4-Series, which was bought by 10 Russians (-44.4%). Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Mercedes-Benz SL-Class were bought in the amount of 5 units each. The rest 15 convertibles are distributed among 8 models of different brands. Experts noted that in January - April of 2019, sales of majority of models in this segment went into the "minus", therewith, 7 of 12 models are showing a fall in the range from 40 to 83%.

As for the geography of residence for fans of open-top cars, the majority of sales (57%) fell traditionally on the capital, where 30 cabriolets were sold, other 5 cars were bought by residents of the Moscow region, 4 – by residents of St. Petersburg, by 3 cars – in Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg regions. The rest cars were sold to residents of the Chelyabinsk and Rostov regions, the Krasnodar Territory (2 units in each), the Samara and Saratov regions (1 unit in each).
