In September the British car market remained at the last year level

In September the British car market remained almost at the last year level, having decreased by 0.8% to 332,476 cars. According to SMMT, September result exceeded the forecast and, according to the sales, it is on the second place after March. According to SMMT evaluation, in September the dealers sold almost 17% of the annual car sales in 2011.

During nine months of 2011 car dealers in Great Britain sold 1,553,094 cars – that is 5% less than a year ago. According to SMMT forecast, the total car sales will be 1.93 million cars in 2011 (-5% vs. last year). The recovery of the British car market will start in 2012, when it will come up to 1.96 million cars sold.

According to the information got by AUTOSTAT agency from SMMT, the unconditional leader in the British car market in September is Ford, which sold 43,350 cars (-6.6%). The second place belongs to Vauxhall with 37,472 cars sold, that is 11.3% less than a year ago. The third place belongs to Volkswagen, whose sales were 29,250 cars (+18.4%). Audi (18,588 cars, +17%) and Nissan (18,573 cars, +17.8%) are on the fourth and the fifth places.
