The share of diesel passenger cars accounts for 5% of the parc of Russian Federation

According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", as of the beginning of 2019, there are 2.19 million diesel-powered vehicles in Russia, which is 5% of the country's passenger car parc.

In the brand rating of such cars with a share of 17.7%, Toyota is the leader. So, as of January 1st of this year, 387.8 thousand diesel cars of this Japanese brand are registered in our country. The second place is occupied by another Japanese manufacturer - Mitsubishi, the diesel vehicles of which in the Russian Federation are listed in the amount of 195.5 thousand units. The third place belongs to Volkswagen with an indicator of 183.4 thousand units.

BMW (180.1 thousand units) and Nissan (144.5 thousand units) are the next in the ranking. In addition to them, the TOP-10 of the most popular car brands in Russia that are equipped with a diesel engine include: Land Rover (133.2 thousand units), Mercedes-Benz (127.5 thousand units), SsangYong (114, 7 thousand units), KIA (95.1 thousand units) and Hyundai (90.4 thousand units).

According to the experts of the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, the share of each of the rest brands that make up the Russian diesel engine parc is less than 4%.
