Skoda increased global sales by 4.4% in 2018


The Czech automaker Skoda, a part of the Volkswagen group, sold 1,253,700 vehicles in the last year, which is more by 4.4% than in 2017 (1,200,500 units), reported the representative of the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, which took place in Mlada Boleslav on March 20th (Czech Republic).

The TOP-three of the most popular models of the Czech brand are Octavia (388,200 units; -7.3%), Rapid (191,500 units; -9.5%) and Fabia (190,900 units; -7.6%). However, sales of these three models have declined. Also a slight decrease was demonstrated by the flagship of the Skoda Superb line (-8.5% up to 138,100 units).

It is noted that the growth in sales was provided by Kodiaq crossovers (+ 49.3% up to 149,200 units) and Karoq (115,700 units), which entered the market in 2018. Skoda Yeti was sold in the last year on a residual basis (13,100 units; -81.2%).

In European countries, the Citigo minicar is also in demand (39,200 units; + 55%). And in 2018, the new Kamiq crossover entered the Chinese market, which they managed to sell in the amount of 27,900 units.

By the results of 2018, Russian dealers of Skoda sold 81,459 cars, which is more by 30.7% than a year before. At the same time, the budget liftback Skoda Rapid enjoys the greatest popularity among Russians.
