Lexus sold the 10 millionth car


Lexus has announced the sale of the 10-millionth car since the creation of the brand in 1989. In addition, Lexus brand, which produced the world's first self-loading hybrid in 2005, and today offers an extensive line of electrified models in the international market, has surpassed the 1.45 million self-charging hybrid cars that were sold worldwide. Sales of Lexus hybrids in 2018 grew by about 20% in compare with the previous year, according to the press service of the Japanese brand.

Totally 698,330 cars were sold worldwide in 2018, which is more by 4.5% than a year before. The presence in the model range of such cars as the premium crossovers RX and NX, the LC and LS, as well as the new generation ES and the first in the history of the brand compact crossover UX, played a key role in the achieving of such high rates.

Since the founding of the brand, sales of Lexus cars in Europe amounted to about 875 thousand units, among which about 365 thousand are self-charging hybrids. In 2018, Lexus delivered 76,188 cars to customers in the European market - a record number in the whole history of the brand, which has shown steady sales growth for the fifth consecutive year. For the last 5 years, sales of Lexus in Europe have grown by 76%.

In Russia, 24,312 vehicles were sold in 2018, which was an absolute record in the whole history of Lexus’s presence in the market and allowed an increase in sales by 2.6% in compare with the previous year. Due to this, in the segment of premium car manufacturers, the share of Lexus reached 15.7%, which allowed the brand to take the third place in this segment the third year in a row.
