Skoda enters the economy car segment with the Citigo


The Czech car manufacturer Skoda continues to extend its model lineup and introduces its seventh model – the Citigo. This 3.56 meter car will enable Skoda to enter A-segment. The model will come on sale in the Czech market this year and will be introduced in other European countries in Summer 2012. Russian consumers will see the car during Moscow motor show next year in August, and in September ordering will start, the information about packages and prices will become available before the beginning sales.

According to Skoda, the Citigo, 3.56 meter long, 1.65 meter wide and 1.48 meter high, is one of the smallest cars in its segment. The trunk volume is 251 liters, however if rear seats are folded it increases up to 951 liters. At first the Citigo will be introduced as a three-door car, five-door version will be launched in 2012.

The Citigo will be available with two new three-cylinder, 1 liter, 44 kV/60 h.p. and 55 kV/75 h.p. petrol engines. The engines will consume at average 4.2 liter and 4.3 liter per 100 km in Green Tec economy mode, and CO2 emission will come up to 97gm/km and 99gm/km. 60 h.p. engine consumes 4.5 liters of petrol per 100 km and emits 105 gm of CO2. More powerful engine (75 h.p.) consumes 4.7 liters per 100 km and emits only 108 gm of CO2.
