The first electronic passport for an imported foreign car has been issued in Russia

JSC "Electronic Passport" (a part of the state corporation "Rostech") reported about the issue of the first electronic passport of the vehicle (EPV) for imported car to Russia. Previously, the electronic passports were issued only for vehicles manufactured in the country, reported the press service of the department.

The first imported car to Russia with the electronic passport was the powerful sports SUV Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Porsche Russland Company was the first among automobile importers that formed an electronic passport on a car imported into Russia, passed the required customs procedures with it and completed the chain of necessary actions with successful registration in the traffic police. In the near future, the company plans to switch to the issuing of electronic passports for all cars imported and sold in Russia.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, on the eve the first electronic vehicle type approval (E-VTA) was issued to the Mazda CX-9 car. The car, the production of which was established at the Mazda-Sollers plant in Vladivostok, has successfully passed all the necessary tests and certification procedures.

Recall, in accordance with the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission, a transitional period is now in effect in Russia and other EAEU member states, providing for a gradual transition to the usage of vehicle electronic passports.
