The future in the Volkswagen sales system has already come

On October 23rd, in Berlin, Volkswagen and the European Council of Dealers (EuropeanDealerCouncil) presented a new sales model that will be launched in April 2020. According to the portal volkswagen-newsroom.com, the model provides for fundamentally new methods of work for 5,400 dealer and service centers, as well as for 54,000 of their employees throughout Europe. The new concept allows you to go far beyond the process of selling a car and provide round-the-clock support to its customers based on a unique identifier. Every year Volkswagen plans to introduce about 5 million customers into this system.

“This is the right move at the right time,” - says Jürgen Stackmann, the member of the Volkswagen sales board. “We adopted this approach because changes in the business environment are occurring at an incredible speed, taking into account new technologies, changing expectations of customers and new market participants.”

According to Mr. Shtakmann, the new sales model is a combination of the existing developed infrastructure with the latest digital elements. For example, having connected to the VolkswagenWe system, customers of the German brand will be able to update the software of their cars through mobile networks, and the cars themselves will be able to notify dealers about the need to conduct a planned maintenance (or other service) through special applications. The Internet platform will provide an opportunity to use services such as WePark, WeDeliver, WeConnect, as well as car-sharing system of Volkswagen cars.

The process of buying a car will also change dramatically: the number of online sales will increase, 5 new customer interaction formats will be added, for example, a city exhibition hall, a service center, a pop-up store, or a used car sales center. All of these features complement the traditional full-featured dealerships, which in the future will play a key role.

At the event in Berlin, representatives of the Volkswagen brand and the European Dealers Council (EDC) approved a new sales model, symbolically signing a contract that governs the relationship between the manufacturer and its dealers in Europe since April of 2020. All European dealers must sign a new contract by the end of November of 2018.
