Russian car market grew by 6% in September


By the end of September, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia grew by 6.2% and they were 157,371 vehicles. For the first nine months of 2018, the Russian car market grew by 14.9% up to 1 million 297 thousand 432 cars, according to data of the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in AEB, in September the market continued to show a positive trend, despite the high base of last year. In light of the current state of the market and the expected increase in VAT from January of the next year, AEB updated its forecast for 2018, according to which the Russian car market could grow by 13% compared to last year up to 1.8 million cars.

Leadership in the Russian car market is kept by AVTOVAZ, which was sold in amount of 31,173 LADA cars in the last month, which is more by 10% than a year ago. KIA occupied the second place in terms of sales - sales of 18,911 cars (+ 1%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai keeps the third place with the indicator of 16,100 sold cars, which is more by 1% than in the last year. Toyota is the next – 11,239 customers (+ 48%) chose the vehicles of this brand. This time Renault closes the TOP- five, sales of which were 10,398 cars (-18%).

The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands in September also included Volkswagen (9364 units, + 16%), Nissan (7840 units, + 18%), Skoda (7777 units, + 34%), Ford (4644 units, 0%) and GAZ (4548 units, -11%).
