Toyota will increase production by 7% in Russia in 2011

Japanese car producer Toyota plans to increase production in its St. Petersburg’s plant by 7% to 17 thousand cars in 2011. The president of Toyota Motor Europe, Didye Lerua, informed about it “Praim” agency and he also added that it is planned to launch new generation of Toyota Camry in St. Petersburg plant Toyota in November of this year.

At the present time Russia is the biggest market in Europe for Toyota. Japanese company plans to sell in Russia 115 thousand of cars totally in 2011 and it is higher than the previous year indicators by 29%.

As AUTOSTAT was informed earlier, St. Petersburg plant Toyota produced 7444 of Toyota Camry cars for six months of 2011 (-3,1%). Meanwhile, there were queues for Toyota Camry from 1 to 2,5 months at the end of 2010 – the beginning of 2011, so Toyota Motor decided to resume an import of this model in Russia to satisfy demand for one of its bestsellers. Sales of Toyota Camry increased by 35% in the Russian market in the first half of year and they were 10877 cars. Totally Toyota sold 57615 cars in Russia in January-June and it was more by 86% than in the previous year.
