Every second sold car in the Russian Federation has an engine ranging from 1.4 to 1.6 liters

According to the estimation of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", for 7 months of 2018, Russians bought 461,4 thousand new passenger cars with engine volume from 1.4 to 1.6 liters, inclusively. It is 49.9% of the total volume of the Russian market, i.е. every second sold car in the country.

As the experts of the agency noted, almost all automakers prefer to install these engines on the most popular models. For example, they are very often used in B-class cars (KIA Rio, Lada Granta, etc.) and in the cars of mass-standard configurations of C-class (Skoda Octavia, KIA Ceed), and they are also often installed on crossovers (Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster).

The next most popular is the category of cars with engine volume of more than 1.6 and up to 2 liters inclusively (270.5 thousand units), the share of which was about 30% of sales. As it is known, engines of this volume are especially popular in the SUV segment and C-class.

Sales of new passenger cars with engines of a different size look more modest. So, the category 2 - 2.5 liters occupies 7.5% of the Russian market, and 1.2 - 1.4 and 2.5 - 3 liters – by 5% each. In other categories this indicator is even less than 2%.
