What cars do pensioners and people of pre-retirement have in Russia?

On August 29th, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a televised address to the Russians on the issue of retirement age. In particular, the head of state proposed to establish the age at which women would retire at 60 years, not 63, as was originally intended. It will be 65 years old for men. Thus, this indicator for representatives of both sexes will grow by 5 years. In addition, Mr. Putin suggested the introduction of the concept of pre-retirement age in Russia.

Considering such a significant event, the experts of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", based on the results of the online survey, determined which cars are the most popular among pensioners and people of pre-retirement age in our country.

In the course of the survey, it was found out that the national brand LADA, which is owned by 12% of the total number of respondents of the corresponding age category, is the leader. In the second place in this indicator it is Japanese Toyota (11%). The TOP-three of leaders is closed by Nissan - the cars of this Japanese brand are belonged to 7% of respondents.

Among the models the products of the domestic automotive industry are also leading. So, pensioners and citizens of pre-retirement age are owners of cars of the family LADA Classic, which accounts for 3% of all survey participants. Further with the same indicators LADA Samara and Renault Logan follow (2% for each model). LADA Kalina and Toyota Corolla are slightly behind them (by 1.9% each).

It should be noted that more than 12 thousand questionnaires of respondents aged over 55 were processed in the course of the study. Surveys were conducted during the period from 2015 to 2018, taking into account brands and models, the number of questionnaires for which was at least 100 units.
