The Russian market of LCV may slow down its growth

The market of light commercial vehicles may slow its growth in 2018, the leader of the segment "GAZ Group" pawns a year's increase in sales only by 5-6%, said the head of the company, Vadim Sorokin. The expectations of Mr. Sorokin are noticeably less than the market and other forecasts for the year. In the first half of the year, the sales of LCV by GAZ, according to AEB, grew by 8%, up to 27.1 thousand vehicles; the market share fell to 3.2% from 3.5%.

Ford Sollers expects that the sales of passenger cars and LCV will grow by 10-15% in 2018, but the LCV segment will grow more slowly, which is evident in sales for January-June, which grew by only 9% (according to the AEB, the market grew by 18,2%). The deputy head of the corporate sales department of "Avilon", Andrey Gusev, expects an increase in LCV in the range of 5-7% for the year. According to him, the demand in the segment is stable, the parc needs should be renewed (the average age of LCV in Russia is 14 years), which was postponed in 2014-2016; there are market support programs of state and automotive concerns. But the source on the market says that the decline of state support in 2018, in particular in preferential leasing, affects negatively.
