Toyota increased sales by 7% in Russia in the first half of the year


Russian dealers of Toyota sold 47,444 vehicles in the first half of 2018, which is more by 7% than a year ago, informed the press service of Toyota Motor LLC. Toyota's best-seller was Camry business sedan for the reporting period, which found 13,884 customers (-1%). The second place by sales volume among the Toyota models is occupied by RAV4 crossover, the sales of which were 13,423 units (-16%). As it was noted, these models are included consistently in the TOP-20 of the bestselling passenger cars in the Russian market.

It should be also noted that 8,271 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs were sold for 6 months, by showing an increase of 56% in the first half of 2017. But sales of the new mid-size SUV - Toyota Fortuner - were 3,111 units.

As the vice-president of Toyota Motor LLC, Takashi Suito, noted, the launch of two off-road vehicles in one segment to the market and almost at the same time became a kind of challenge for the company. "The competent positioning strategy of two models, as well as the undeniable advantages of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Toyota Fortuner in front of competitors, allowed them not only to interfere sales of each other, but also to promote the growth of the brand's performance," - said Mr. Suito.
