The parc of cars on gas will grow by 10-30 thousand cars per a year

In the next ten years the parc of gas cars will grow annually by 10-30 thousand units. Such a forecast was given to the "Russian newspaper" by Deputy Energy Minister, Kirill Molodtsov. Since 2013, the number of cars on gas has increased in Russia by about a half.

"Now there are about 212 thousand cars, but we expect an increase from 10 to 30 thousand cars per year in the next ten years," - he said. According to the deputy minister, there are good prospects for gas transport in large cities, where it is a high level of air pollution. "The release of harmful impurities, depending on the alternative - gasoline or diesel - will decrease from 2 to 9 times, and from the point of view of greenhouse gases this effect is actually reduced by three times". Ecological benefits are also evident for the use of transport in the city, this is especially true," - supposes Kirill Molodtsov.

One of the advantages of gas over gasoline and diesel is a stably low price. But with the increasing popularity of gas cars, the price of gas can be subjected to high volatility. "I can assume that in the future, when the car parc and, consequently, gas consumption will be significant, we can face a situation of rising gas prices," - believes the deputy minister. "But we live in a "gas" country, our reserves are more than 37 percent of the world's reserves, it's practically 30 trillion cubic meters. Huge numbers and, accordingly, we have a lot of gas, which means that we will never have a deficit."
