    In February of 2019, sales of new cars in Russia fell by 3.6% in compare with February of 2018. The mass segment for the second month in a row shows a negative trend (-4.8%). Its sales amounted to 112,135 vehicles, which is 90.6% of the total sales.



Mercedes-Benz in 2017 retained leadership among premium brands in Russia


Russian dealers of Mercedes-Benz in the end of 2017 sold 36,808 cars and all-terrain vehicles with a three-beam star, which corresponds to the level of the previous year. Thus, the Stuttgart brand remains the undisputed leader in the premium segment of the Russian car market for the fifth consecutive year. Mercedes-Maybach, S-Class, SL, E-Class, CLS, CLA SLC and V-Class, outperformed competitors in the Mercedes-Maybach segment in the last year, reported the Mercedes-Benz Rus press service.

In addition, in the last year the company handed over 6504 low-tonnage vehicles (+ 3%), as well as 934 smart cars (+ 34%) to customers. Daimler AG continues the policy of strategic investments in the Russian market, by considering it as the important market for Mercedes-Benz. In February 2017, the company Mercedes-Benz Rus signed with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Government of the Moscow Region a special investment contract (SPIC) for the construction of a full-cycle car plant in the industrial park Esipovo in the Moscow region. In June of 2017, Mercedes-Benz began the construction work on the territory of the future plant. According to the plan, in 2019 the new production site will start the production of local products from E-Class sedans, followed by off-road vehicles GLE, GLC and GLS.

The company "Mercedes-Benz Rus" also continued to invest in the development of the dealer network in Russia. As a result, four new Mercedes-Benz sales centers were opened during the year. Currently, the dealer network of Mercedes-Benz cars includes 73 points of sales, 3 city showrooms, 7 service partners and 15 AMG Performance Centers. Dealer network Mercedes-Benz Vans today has 77 points of sale, 16 of them are specialized low-tonnage dealer centers. In 2018, a new pickup H-Class and a new generation of Sprinter will enter the Russian market.
