Toyota increased the share up to 7.4% in the Russian market in January

Russian dealers of Toyota sold 6064 cars in January of 2016, which is less by 15% than a year ago. Toyota market share in the last month grew in comparison with the previous year by 1.2% and it was 7.4%, which allowed the brand to keep the leadership among Japanese automakers and to take the fourth place in the overall ranking of sales in Russia, informed the press service of "Toyota Motor".

The most salable model of Toyota in Russia in January was the Toyota RAV4 crossover, sales of which grew by 37.9% to 2,816 vehicles. New Toyota RAV4 has become a leader in terms of sales among all crossovers and SUVs in Russia, by increasing its share in the C-SUV segment to a record for the last 9 years level of 21.3%. Sales success in no small measure was contributed by the launch of the new RAV4 at the end of 2015.

Besides Toyota RAV4 two more models entered the TOP-25 of rating of the most popular cars in Russia, which was published by the Association of European Businesses. One of them –is the traditional best-selling brand in the Russian market, business sedan Toyota Camry. In January, 2016 it was sold 1146 cars of this model (-45.7%).

In the ranking of best-sellers of Russian car market for the second month in a row it is listed flagship SUV Toyota Land Cruiser 200. Sales of permanent leader of segment of premium full-size SUVs has increased almost 4 times compared with the same period of the last year and it was 1,014 units (+ 264.7%). The market share of Toyota Land Cruiser 200 has grown in comparison with the previous year by 26.1% and it was 49.4%. The dynamics of indicators was positively influenced by the successful start of sales of the new Land Cruiser 200 of the autumn of the last year.

Frame pickup Toyota Hilux, due to the successful launch of the new generation to the market in August of 2015, not only retained in January 2016 the position of an absolute leader of pickup segment, but also won a record share - 39.8% - since the appearance of the model in Russia (+ 11.7% compared to the same period of the last year). Last month it was sold 262 pickups Toyota Hilux.
