KIA Mohave will stay in the Russian market

The company KIA Motors Rus intends to continue sales of Mohave SUV in the Russian market, despite the appearance in Russia of a new flagship SUV Sorento Prime.

According to the portal "Kolesa.ru" the full-size SUV KIA Mohave was created first of all under the requirements of the American market. However, this model was not popular and its sales in the US were terminated. The car did not become the best-selling car in Russia. Thus, from January to November of 2015 in the Russian market it was sold only 279 units of the Mohave, and in November only 16 units. Compared to last year sales fell by 41%, significantly higher than the overall decline in sales of the brand.

However, despite the appearance of Sorento Prime, which moved Mohave from flagship place, the company does not intend to abandon this model. "The car has a consumer that buys all the cars that we receive. Mohave quota is about 25 cars per a month, we do not receive more and all these cars are successfully sold”, - said in an interview with "Kolesa.ru" the marketing director of KIA Motors Rus, Valery Tarakanov. - The future of Mohave exists. We do not want to make mass this model in Russia, but it will stay in the model range”. 

KIA Mohave is being produced for seven years. It is frame SUV with classic design and a diesel engine with a capacity of 3.0 liters, which is capable for 250 HP and it provides 549 Nm of torque. Off-road equipment has the transfer case with reduction gear and rear limited-slip differential.

The Russian SUV is available in two trim levels: the car of 2015 release in Comfort version can be bought at a minimum 2,269, 900 rubles, and the option Premium will cost 2.519 million rubles, all cars that are sold in the Russian market get the package "Warm option", including a steering rear, front and rear glasses, mirrors and all the seats, including the rear seat.
