The dynamics of the Russian car market in 2019

The European car market will slow the growth up to 2% in 2015

Sales of new cars in Europe keep a positive trend this year, however, their growth will be slower than in 2014. As predicted the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), in 2015 the sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will increase by 2%, after rising by 5.7% to 12.6 million cars a year before. Thus, this year, the market capacity will come close to 13 million cars, wrote the newspaper "Vedomosti".

The rise of the market the last year was the first since the financial crisis in 2007; in December of 2014 it was the growth the 16th consecutive month, remarked the chairman of the ACEA, Carlos Ghosn, who also was the head of the French carmaker Renault. "It is necessary to temper the optimism in this regard of the first sign of recovery due to the economic uncertainty, which is kept in many countries," - he said.

Meanwhile, sales of premium crossovers of compact class in Europe in 2015 will exceed half a million mark for the first time. This segment is one of the fastest growing - in 2010 sales were at the level of 270 thousand cars, writes "Za rulem.RF." According to analysts of the company IHS Automotive, in 2016, sales of premium compact crossover will reach 600 thousand units.

By the end of 2014, the first place in the European market in this segment was occupied by Audi - Q3, the second place went to Volvo XC60 (sales growth of model was 35% for the year). The third position was occupied by BMW X1.

IHS analysts believe that with the launch of a new generation of X1, sales of which were expected in November, BMW will take the first place in the rankings by the results of 2016 and it will remain a leader in the segment for the next two years.

This year, the competition in the segment will increase after the Mercedes-Benz will launch a crossover GLC, which will replace the current GLK. New products will be less edgy, compared with the GLK; besides, it will be available in right-hand drive version, unlike the GLK, which will have a positive impact on sales, as the model goes to the second-largest European market - the UK.

Another important premiere in the segment of premium compact crossovers was already - Land Rover Discovery Sport, which replaced Freelander. According to the IHS, this year sales of Discovery Sport will exceed twice indicators of Freelander and they will be 40 thousand units.
