AvtoVAZ will begin the assembly of new engines Renault-Nissan in March

AvtoVAZ plans to launch the issue of the new power train and transmission of the alliance Renault-Nissan on March 15th. The new engine with aluminum crankcase with a volume of 1.6 liters and capacity of 110 HP will be installed on new models of AvtoVAZ, including Vesta and XRay, as well as on vehicles under the brands Renault and Nissan, manufactured in Russia, writes "Za rulem.RF."

"We will never be able to abandon completely the import, but we can increase the localization in Russia – on March 15th we are launching the production of localized engine and gearbox for Renault. It is savings for us and for Renault”, - said the president of AvtoVAZ, Bo Andersson, in an interview with "RBK-TV”. He said that the devaluation of the ruble has a strong influence on the launch of new models of Vesta and XRay, but he added that the next year AvtoVAZ plans to localize the production of these models up to 75%.

H4 engine of Renault-Nissan alliance is available since 2006 and it is installed on the models of the alliance, including Nissan Qashqai, Renault Megane. AvtoVAZ will use for the organization of manufacture of the engine almost 19 billion Rubles, and the production volume can be up to 450,000 power units per year. Previously, the plant began to assembly of engines K4 for vehicles on the platform B0, among them Nissan Almera, Renault Logan and Lada Largus.
