"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.

According to monitoring data carried out by specialists of the AUTOSTAT analytical agency, as of April 2020, there are almost 3.3 thousand dealerships for the sale and maintenance of cars in Russia (with the exception of service centers). More than a quarter (26.8%) of them is represented by European brands, among which there are 881 car centers.

In January - March of this year, 398.5 thousand new cars and LCVs were sold in our country. This is higher by 1.8% than for the same period in 2019. Russian LADA brand keeps traditionally the leadership in the Russian market - in the 1st quarter, sales reached 79.6 thousand units, having decreased by 3.4%. Thus, its share was equal to 20%.

In 2019, Russian car plants produced 1.72 million vehicles totally. In a detailed review of the results of the previous year, the experts noted that in the structure of the car production in our country about a half (47.1%) accounted for only three enterprises: AvtoVAZ, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus and Avtotor.

Specialists of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT and the publisher “Za Rulem” decided to find out how these factors influence the plans of Russians to buy a car (new or used). In this regard, from March 27th to April 2nd, we conducted a joint online survey, in which more than 1,400 car owners took part. As the results of the study showed, 42.2% of respondents believe that now it is not the time for such a purchase.

According to the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, as of January 1st, 2020, there are 4.17 million light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Russia. The average age of this fleet is 15.6 years, and 47% of all LCVs in the country being over the age of 15 years.
