There are 32.7 thousand electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in our country (as of July 1, 2023). Such data is contained in the updated report “Electric cars and hybrids in Russia”, prepared by experts from the AUTOSTAT agency. Among this amount, 78.6% are electric vehicles (Battery Electric Vehicle - BEV). These are battery-powered vehicles that, for movement, use an electric power unit (electric engine), the power source of which is a purely rechargeable battery. Examples include such cars as the Audi e-tron, Porsche Taycan, Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Tesla models.
Accordingly, the remaining 21.4% belongs to plug-in hybrids or plug-in hybrids. These are cars that allow you to use not only energy recovery systems while driving or an installed internal combustion engine, but also external power sources to charge batteries. That is, such cars can be connected to street charging terminals or household outlets to replenish the energy in the batteries. Plug-in hybrids include Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, etc.
In the brand structure of the parc of electric cars and plug-in hybrids, the Japanese Nissan is the undisputed leader, with a 38% share of the total volume. The second place in the ranking is taken by the American brand Tesla with a share of 12.7%, and the third - by the Japanese Mitsubishi (7.4%). The top five leading brands also included German Porsche and Volkswagen (4.7% and 4.2%, respectively).
