The vast majority of electric vehicle owners in our country use them for personal moving. This was shown by a survey conducted by specialists of analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" as part of the work on the report "Electric vehicles in Russia. The attitude of motorists and the portrait of the owner. In November 2022, during an online survey, more than 94% of respondents (3,500 people) chose "for personal moving" from the proposed answer options* of electric vehicle operating format. At the same time, it turned out that almost one in four (27%) uses their electric car for work-related travel as well. And one in ten (9.8%) confirmed that they operate their vehicle for commercial purposes. The survey also showed that Russian electric car driver drives 218 km in average on a single charge. However, everyone’s needs are different, the technical capabilities of the models and the infrastructure capabilities for "energizing" are different.
This is probably why someone's maximum ride on a single charge was less than 100 km, while someone's was more than 450 km. After analyzing the responses received, the experts found that the largest category among electric vehicles (27.9%) are those who traveled maximum 100-150 km without recharging. The second largest group (20.5%) - with a mileage of 150 - 200 km. In total, these two categories accounted for about 50% of the total number of respondents (48.4%).
Curiously, there were approximately the same number of drivers who were very careful (driving less than 100 km on a single charge) and very brave (whose maximum mileage was more than 450 km) (around 10%).
