"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.
In the spring of 2022 (in addition to the annual autumn wave), the fourth spring wave of the project will be released, which is aimed at identifying consumer preferences in the purchase and operation of summer tires.
For 4 months of 2023, 9.8 thousand new passenger cars with diesel engines were sold in our country.
The share of crossovers and SUVs in the Russian car market continues to grow. A year ago, in January 2022, SUVs accounted for 55.2% of the market, and in January 2023 this figure was close to 63%. Such data were announced by the director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Tselikov, by speaking at the auto business forum "ForAuto - 2023. Results and forecasts of the car market" (link to the video broadcast is here). This is largely due to the growth in sales of cars of Chinese brands, which entered the Russian market mainly with crossovers.
The expert also drew attention to the fact that an increase in the share of the SUV segment was noticed in all federal districts without exception - in the range from 1.5 to 15 percentage points. At the same time, the Northwestern (+15 pp) and Central (+14.3 pp) federal districts made the most tangible contribution to this process. We note that the largest car markets in these two districts - Moscow and St. Petersburg - showed even greater growth (+21 pp and +20.7 pp, respectively).
The highest share of crossovers and SUVs in the new car market in January 2023 was recorded in the Far Eastern Federal District - here it has already exceeded 78%. And the lowest rate was noted in the North Caucasus - about 38%.
