At the end of 2022, 626,281 new passenger cars were purchased in Russia, which is 58.7% lower than in 2021. This is reported by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*. Leadership in the Russian car market is still held by the domestic brand LADA, the figure of which for the last year was 174,688 units, by demonstrating a drop of 48.2%. As a result, the share of LADA was equal to 27.9%.
Korean brands Kia (65,691 units) and Hyundai (54,017 units) are the next in the ranking, which showed an even greater drop (by 67% and 66%, respectively). In the TOP-10 of brands, almost all have a negative trend, and only the Chinese Geely (+8.4%) is in the "plus". German Volkswagen lost the most in terms of market volume (-77.2%), and the Chinese Chery lost the least (-2%).
According to the results of 2022, the domestic LADA Granta is the leader in the model structure of the Russian market. Cars of this family were purchased in the amount of 87,982 units - 22% lower than a year ago. The second position is occupied by LADA Vesta with 32,790 sold units (-71.2%). Korean Kia Rio is the third one (23,909 units; -69.8%). It should be noted that in the presented rating (TOP-20) there are models that have the market growth. They are three “Chinese” models - Chery Tiggo 7 PRO (+55.7%), Haval Jolion (+94.8%) and Geely Coolray (+16.9%). And the lowest fall was recorded for Skoda Rapid (-75.8%).
