TOP-10 of the most common brands of electric cars and hybrids in Russia


As of July 1st, 2022, the fleet of electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) in Russia amounted to 23.3 thousand units, or 0.05% of the total number of passenger cars. At the same time, electric vehicles are registered four times more than plug-in hybrids. Such data were obtained by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" during the preparation of the report "Electric cars and hybrids in Russia". In the brand structure of the fleet of electric cars and plug-in hybrids, the Japanese manufacturer Nissan is the undisputed leader, which accounts for more than a half (52.9%) of the total. In second place in the ranking there is the American brand Tesla, the models of which are driven only by electric engines.

Its share was 10.4%. The top-3 also included Japanese brand Mitsubishi (9.8%). The performances of each of the remaining brands that form the TOP-10 is lower than 5%, and are presented in the picture. Note: BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) is a battery-powered vehicle that uses an electric power plant (electric engine) to carry out movement, the power source of which is a purely battery. Examples include such vehicles as Audi e-tron, Porsche Taycan, Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Tesla models. PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) - plug-in hybrids that allow you to use not only energy recovery systems while driving or an installed internal combustion engine, but also external power sources to charge batteries. That is, such cars can be connected to street charging terminals or household outlets to replenish the energy supply in the batteries. Plug-in hybrids include Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, etc.
