"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.
In the spring of 2022 (in addition to the annual autumn wave), the fourth spring wave of the project will be released, which is aimed at identifying consumer preferences in the purchase and operation of summer tires.
For eight months of 2023, 294 thousand passenger cars rolled off Russian assembly lines
Last year, sales of new passenger cars in Russia were 1 million 535.9 thousand units, which is 3.3% higher than in 2020. Experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" note that in the majority (6 out of 8) of the presented market segments there is a positive trend. Segments B (-4.5%) and C (-28.5%) went into the "minus". The best growth (+21.1%) was demonstrated by coupes and convertibles. Traditionally, SUVs remain the largest segment of the Russian market. Thus, for the previous year, 787.3 thousand new crossovers and SUVs (+9.2%) were sold, which accounted for more than a half (51.3%) of the total number of sold passenger cars in Russia.
This happened for the first time in the country. Hyundai Creta (68.1 thousand units; -7.4%) kept the leadership there, followed by LADA Niva (51.2 thousand units; +4.8%) and Renault Duster (41.5 thousand units; +31.1%). Segment B ranks the second, with a share of 34.8% the previous year. Cars of this class in January-December 2021 sold 534 thousand units (-4.5%). The leader here is the domestic LADA Vesta (113.7 thousand units; +6%). The second place in terms of sales is occupied by LADA Granta (111.4 thousand units; -11.6%), and Kia Rio finishes the top three (82.9 thousand units; -5.8%). Next, with a huge backlog, is segment D, which accounted for 5.5% in 2021.
Sales of vehicles of this class were 84.4 thousand units, by showing an increase of 18.3%. We also note that the share of each of the remaining segments is less than 3%, and among pickups and coupes / convertibles, it does not even reach 1%. Information about their sales and leading models is shown in the picture.
