What are the most common cars in different segments of the fleet?

As of mid-2021, a little more than 45 million passenger cars were registered in the Russian car fleet. The experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" decided to look at how they are distributed among the segments and to define a leader model in each of them.

As it turned out, the largest share in the passenger car fleet belongs to the B segment - 42%, and the leader of this class is the domestic model, which has long been discontinued - LADA 2107. The number of such cars in the fleet as of June 1st, 2021 is 1 million 636 thousand units.

The second largest segment (26%) is SUV, in the model rating of which LADA 4x4 is the leader. There are 995,000 of such 3-door SUVs. The top three also includes segment C, whose share is 14.5%. Here, the championship belongs to the Ford Focus model (758 thousand units), which has already left the Russian market of new cars, but is widely represented in the secondary market.

The share of D segment cars in the Russian fleet is only 6.6%. In the overall structure, this class of cars is the fourth one. Toyota Camry is among segment leaders, there are 488 thousand such sedans in our country.

The E and MPV segments occupied at least 3% each in the Russian car fleet (the leaders within the classes are GAZ 3110 and Ford Fusion). The total share of the remaining five segments (A, LAV, pickups, F, coupes / convertibles) does not exceed 5%.
