The market of electric vehicles in Russia - both primary and secondary - has been showing the growth for the previous few years, experts of AUTOSTAT agency state. The chart presented in the picture clearly demonstrates how the situation in this segment has changed from month to month.
So, in 2020, in general, Russians bought 5,274 used and 687 new electric cars, which is 60% and 95%, respectively, higher than in 2019. And in the 1st quarter of 2021, residents of our country purchased 1,273 used and 307 new electric vehicles. This is 46% and almost 6 times higher than in January - March 2020. The chart shows that the market of electric cars began to grow more actively since mid-2020. On the used car market, experts largely associate the growth with the abolition of customs duties on electric cars when they are imported into the EAEU (entered into force on May 4th, 2020), on the new market - with the appearance of new models in the lineup, such as Audi e-tron and Porcshe Taycan. ...
If we focus on the statistics of the 1st quarter, then in the Russian market there are already 14 models of new electric vehicles purchased by the residents of the Russian Federation. And it is the beginners who set the tone here. So, sales of Porsche Taycan were 135 units, the Audi e-Tron - 62 units, and together they made up more than 60% of the market. In the "secondary" market, the lion's share (85%) is traditionally occupied by Nissan Leaf in the model rating, which is actively imported from Japan.
Another trend noted by experts in this segment is that the structure within it is changing: if in 2020 there were almost 8 used electric cars for 1 new electric car in Russia, then by the end of the first quarter of 2021 this ratio was actually 1 to 4.
