The sedan remains the most common body type among passenger cars in Russia, but its share has declined markedly for the last 10 years. This is the conclusion reached by the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" during the preparation of the press conference "Automobile fleet: what do the Russians drive?"
If at the beginning of 2011 the share of sedans was more than a half (52%) of all passenger cars, then as of January 1st, 2021, they already owned 42% of the fleet. At the same time, the share of station wagons increased noticeably during this time - from 22% to 33%. In other words, now this is every third car. Agency experts associate it with the high popularity of crossovers in our market.
The share of hatchbacks and liftbacks has grown not so significantly for 10 years - from 19% to 22%. And for other body types, it decreased from 7% to 3%.
