"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.
In the spring of 2022 (in addition to the annual autumn wave), the fourth spring wave of the project will be released, which is aimed at identifying consumer preferences in the purchase and operation of summer tires.
For eight months of 2023, 294 thousand passenger cars rolled off Russian assembly lines
The drop in new car sales in Russia at the end of 2020 (-9.1%, according to the AEB), affected both market segments - mass and premium. Thus, in the mass segment, which accounted for just over 90% of the market, sales of cars fell by 8.9%. But despite this, seven brands in the TOP-25 in terms of sales showed the positive dynamics.
This is most clearly seen at Chinese car manufacturers. In the last year Changan sold 2.5 times more cars than in 2019, in instance. Chery's sales grew by 80%, FAW - by 77%, Geely - by 61%, and Haval - by 41.5%. In addition to them, growth was shown by the Czech Skoda (+ 7%) and the Japanese Suzuki (+ 3%). Most brands were in the red, and the strongest drop among them in 2020 was demonstrated by Chinese Lifan (-65%).
The premium segment dropped by 7.6%, and its share was almost a tenth of the Russian market. Here, only three brands have managed to increase sales. Best of all, American Cadillac coped with this, the volume of sales of which in 2020 grew almost 1.5 times. BMW and MINI were also in the "positive" zone (+ 2.9% and + 0.6%, respectively). The rest of the premium brands show a drop in sales. If at smart, due to leaving the Russian market, they fell by 92.5%, then at Infiniti, Jaguar and Genesis - over 40%. At the same time, the drop affected at least the German Porsche, Audi and Mercedes-Benz (in the range of 5 - 8%).
