Approximately every third sold car in Russia is a Korean brand, and every fourth is a Japanese one. Moreover, in 2000, they have owned less than 3% of our car market. During the AUTOSTAT AnalyticDay online conference, the experts of the AUTOSTAT agency told how it has changed over 20 years - by the origin of brands.
It is clear that domestic brands have lost more than others, the share of which has decreased more than 4 times during this time. But this happened due to quite objective circumstances: a new program for the development of the car industry was launched, automobile plants of foreign manufacturers began to be built in the country, and the standard of living of the population in those years was growing ... All this together contributed to the rapid growth of sales of foreign cars. Despite this, LADA still remains the market leader.Among the domestic brands, UAZ still remains, the rest are history ... Now the share of Russian brands is 22.8% of the market.
According to this indicator, they are inferior not only to the “Koreans” (30.3%), who are in the top, but also to the “Japanese” (24.2%). Both those and others have noticeably increased their share over 20 years, however, like European brands (17.4%). What cannot be said about American brands ... "Stars and Stripes" also went well, by 2010 having won over 10% of the Russian car market. But then, due to a number of events (rather, of a geopolitical nature), they began to leave our market. Now their share is even less than that of the “Chinese” (1.8% versus 3.5%).
According to experts, it is manufacturers from the PRC that in the coming years can seriously affect the balance of power in the Russian car market. Wait and see.
