How have dealer networks in Russia changed for 10 years?


If we consider the origin of the brands * presented in the Russian market, then their dealer networks have changed significantly for the last 10 years. The experts of the AUTOSTAT agency were trying to figure out which of them had acquired and which had lost.

Chinese automakers added the strongest, the total share of which almost doubled during this time - from 10.5% in 2010 to 20.5% in 2020. The "Japanese" have also grown, which own 22% of all dealerships in the country. In terms of this indicator, they are second only to European brands (26.5%), which, on the contrary, shrank a little (from 28.4% in 2010) - largely due to the departure of Opel (in 2015).

Domestic and Korean brands found themselves in a similar situation, which now have 13% of the total number of dealers. And 10 years ago their share exceeded 15%. But the "Americans" lost most of the others; their share for 10 years has decreased 4 times. Now it is just over 3%, which, of course, is due to Ford's withdrawal from the passenger segment (in 2019) and the cessation of sales of mass Chevrolet models (in 2015). Note that Opel and Chevrolet have returned to our market, but the number of their dealers is still significantly less than it was 10 years ago.
