"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.
In the spring of 2022 (in addition to the annual autumn wave), the fourth spring wave of the project will be released, which is aimed at identifying consumer preferences in the purchase and operation of summer tires.
Recall that in January it grew by 7%.
The analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a study of the passenger car market in Russia in January-July of 2020. This study covered the primary and secondary markets and established the relationship between new and used passenger cars.
According to the results, for 7 months of this year, 754.8 thousand new passenger cars were sold in our country and 2 million 742.1 thousand used cars were resold (re-registered). Thus, the ratio of the markets was 1 new car to 3.6 used cars in average.
However, if you look at these markets in greater detail, with a breakdown by months, it is obvious that this proportion has changed from month to month. Thus, the smallest ratio between the primary and secondary markets (1: 2.7) was observed in March of 2020, on the eve of the introduction of the “self-isolation” regime in the country in connection with the coronavirus infection. Both markets were then at the growth stage.
In April and May, when in most regions the official dealerships were closed or they issued cars only in a “remote” format ordered via the Internet, this ratio changed: the infographics show that it has grown significantly (1: 4.6 - 1: 4, 9), that is, in fact, for every 5 registered used cars, there was only 1 new one.
As the situation with car sales improved (both markets began to grow after the spring failure on pent-up demand), the ratio between new and used cars almost returned to the state it was at the beginning of the year.
