In recent years, the experts are increasingly saying that the attitude of Russians to Chinese cars has undergone significant changes – in compare with the opinion that was only a few years ago, when the market had many complaints about the quality of these cars and the organization of their service. Today we see that some Chinese brands in the Russian market feel better than others - European, Asian, American - and despite the crisis in the country, a decrease in the purchasing power of the population and even a pandemic, show a positive trend.
In November of 2019, AUTOSTAT analytic agency and portal Auto Mail.Ru conducted an online survey as a part of a new study, “The market of Chinese cars in Russia. Trends and consumer assessment”, to see the changing of Russian car owners’ attitude towards Chinese cars. The survey involved more than 8,000 people. So, more than 60% of respondents said that for 5 years, Chinese cars have become much better. Owners of cars from the Middle Kingdom were asked questions assessing the level of their satisfac
tion with the car for a number of parameters. For example, evaluating such indicator as assembly quality. For the assessment, a 5-point scale was used, where 5 points meant "completely satisfied", 1 point - "completely dissatisfied." Further, using a special technique, the data were brought to a 100-point scale. Thus, the maximum number of points a car could score is 100 points.
According to the survey, Haval brand cars received the highest rating, which managed to score almost 95 points. In addition, car owners highly appreciated the assembly quality of Changan (86.8 points) and Geely (86.2 points). Chery cars (82.6 points) were the fourth one in this satisfaction rating, and Great Wall (80.6 points) cars were in the fifth place. The Lifan brand finished the rating with over 65 points. Note that this rating included only those car brands that at the time of the survey were used by more than 50 people.
