In January - March of this year, 398.5 thousand new cars and LCVs were sold in our country. This is higher by 1.8% than for the same period in 2019. Russian LADA brand keeps traditionally the leadership in the Russian market - in the 1st quarter, sales reached 79.6 thousand units, having decreased by 3.4%. Thus, its share was equal to 20%. Korean brands KIA (51.9 thousand units) and Hyundai (41.6 thousand units) follow the ranking, but if the first one shows a fall (-2.1%), then the second one shows a slight increase (+ 0.4%).
In the TOP-10 of brands, more than a half (6) of brands shows the market growth, with the highest Toyota Japanese (+ 26%). There are 4 brands in the “negative” zone, and sales of the Japanese Nissan fell the most (-5.5%). In the model structure of the Russian market, the first two lines are occupied by representatives of LADA. Granta remains the leader - for three months it was sold 29.7 thousand units, which is higher by 3.6% than a year ago. Vesta is the second one, sales of which fell by 4% to 26.8 thousand cars.
The title of the best foreign car is still kept by KIA Rio - in the 1st quarter, sales of cars of this family reached 22.9 thousand units (+ 2.8%). Hyundai Creta crossover (18.8 thousand units; + 12.2%) and Volkswagen Polo sedan (12.8 thousand units; + 8.6%) also appear in the top-5. But behind them there are two models that show the worst and best sales dynamics – Hyundai Solaris sedan (12.1 thousand units; -14.7%) and Toyota RAV4 crossover (11.6 thousand units; + 96.4%).
