How did car sharing develop in Moscow?

Experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" have already reported that Moscow has become the world leader by the car sharing. So, at the end of 2019, there were a little more than 30 thousand car-sharing cars in the Russian capital.

The Moscow car-sharing fleet has developed very rapidly during the past few years. Starting with 35 cars in 2015, it already reached 1000 for a year. In 2017, its volume reached 7,000 units, and in 2018 – 15,000. Thus, from 2016 to 2018, the car-sharing fleet in Moscow grew 15 times. According to the experts, this fleet will continue to grow. And if in 2019 the plan of 25,000 cars was over fulfilled with a margin, and the fleet itself doubled, then the plan for 2020 includes 36,600 cars.

We also note that the number of trips during this time has increased significantly - up to 38 million in 2019. And there are about 7 trips per a car per a day in average. At the end of the previous year, 9 operators worked in the Moscow car sharing system, and since 2017, this service has been also provided in the business class segment. Today, 3 companies have 85% of the car-sharing fleet in the capital. They are Yandex.Drive, BelkaCar, Delimobile.
