In which districts of the Russian Federation is there high car ownership per 1000 people?

Experts of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT found that in Russia there are 306 cars per 1000 inhabitants (as of July 1st, 2019). Moreover, in 5 of 8 federal districts, this indicator is higher than the national average.

So, the greatest car ownership per 1000 people is observed in the North-West Federal District - 324 units. A little lower it is in the Central (322 units) and Ural (320 units) Federal Districts. Just in the regions of the Northwestern Federal District and Central Federal District - Karelia, Moscow region, Pskov and Kaluga regions - a high indicator of the car ownership of passenger cars (at least 365 units) was recorded.

In the South and the Far East, there are 313 and 308 cars per 1000 inhabitants, respectively, i.e. slightly higher than the all-Russian result. In the Volga region (301 units) and Siberia (293 units), this indicator is lower, but in such regions as Omsk, Tomsk and Saratov ones, it corresponds to the average level.

The lowest car ownership per 1000 people was recorded in the North Caucasus - 220 units. Moreover, in several republics (Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chechnya) it does not even reach 200 units.
