"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.

In the spring of 2022 (in addition to the annual autumn wave), the fourth spring wave of the project will be released, which is aimed at identifying consumer preferences in the purchase and operation of summer tires.

Are Russians ready for the purchase of a used car at a dealer?

The analytic agency “AUTOSTAT” within the framework of the project “AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS - 2019. Used cars: preferences of car owners” (third wave) * investigated the willingness of car owners to consider purchase of a used car at a dealership. This study was conducted by online survey in March of 2019; it was attended by more than 1,900 car owners of various car brands.

According to the results, only 17% of respondents are ready to buy a used car at an authorized dealer. In its turn, every fourth survey participant intends to buy a used car at a private person. The rest 57% of respondents are considering the possibility of a car buying at a dealership along with the purchase at a private person.

Owners of Land Rover (27.5%), Volvo (26.7%) and Toyota (22.8%) brands demonstrate the greatest loyalty for the purchase of a used car at a dealer. Also, more than 20% of respondents' answers were scored by Renault (21.7%) and Volkswagen (20.7%).

The least willing to consider purchase of a car by a special program at a dealer is belonged to the owners of Citroen cars (12.9%), Mazda (11.1%) and LADA (6.9%).

* The study was attended by the owners of cars of 2011 - 2017 years of release, which at the time of the survey put them on sale on the web sites of car ads (AVITO, Auto.ru, Drom, etc.). The total sample size was 1900 respondents (19 car brands, 100 effective questionnaires for each brand).
