In April of this year, sales of new passenger cars in Russia amounted to 137.6 thousand units, by showing a fall of 2.9% in compare with the result of a year ago. At the same time, the experts of the analytic agency “AUTOSTAT” noted that a decline is observed in three segments of the Russian market. Moreover, in all three segments (C, LAV, and SUV), the indicator is expressed by two-digit figure (-21.3%; -15.9% and -10%, respectively).

It is noteworthy that traditionally the largest segment of the Russian market (SUV) divided its championship with segment B in April. This month, they showed the same results (55.9 thousand units each), and accordingly occupied the same market share - 40.6%.

Hyundai Creta remains the leader in the SUV segment (6,123 units; + 3.2%). Renault Duster rose to the second place (3,620 units; + 3.3%), and Volkswagen Tiguan (2,847 units; -2.5%) ranked the third one.

Three leaders in segment B: domestic LADA Granta (12,652 units; + 69.9%) ranked the first, LADA Vesta (10,131 units; + 30.1%) ranked the second in terms of sales, which is followed by KIA Rio (8,509 units; -0.2%).

We should note a similar situation with segments C and D, which in April also had the same market share (7.8%). At the same time, Skoda Octavia, KIA Ceed and Ford Focus are the leaders in C, while Toyota Camry, KIA Optima and Mazda6 are in the TOP-three of the most popular in the D segment.

The share of the remaining segments does not exceed 4%, while the largest growth is shown by segment A, which grew by 38.1% (mainly due to the growth of its flagship KIA Picanto, although other members of this “small” class show a positive trend). The biggest drop is in the C segment (-21.3%), where even the TOP-three of leaders went "to the minus".
