In April of 2019, sales of new passenger cars and LCVs in our country, according to the AEB, amounted to 148,296 units, which is less by 2.7% than in April of 2018.
The TOP-10 of groups of manufacturers is still headed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, which sold 52,066 vehicles in April, which corresponds to a market share of 35.1%. Recall that LADA brand sales are also taken into account, as AVTOVAZ is a member of this alliance.
In the second place there is KIA-Hyundai with the result of 35 462 sold units and a market share of 23.9%. The third place is occupied by Volkswagen Group with a volume of 19,008 cars and a share of 12.8%. Thus, these three groups together occupy over 70% of the Russian car market. Among the ten represented automaker groups, the market growth was observed at four of them in March, and six showed a fall in the range from -0.4% (KIA-Hyundai) to -28.3% (Mazda), which, we note, showed the highest growth in March in the TOP-10.
This time the leader among the models was the domestic LADA Granta (in March it was inferior to the leadership to LADA Vesta), the sales of which in April amounted to 12,652 vehicles (+ 69.9%). LADA Vesta went down to the second place. Its sales volumes grew by 30.1% and amounted to 10,131 vehicles. In the third position there is KIA Rio with an indicator of 8 509 units (-0.2%). The TOP-five of leaders is closed by Korean Hyundai Сreta crossover (6,123 units; + 3.2%) and the German Volkswagen Polo sedan (5,665 units; + 16%).
We should note that in April, the negative dynamics is observed at 9 models from among those that are in the TOP-20. The largest drop in sales occurred in LADA XRAY (-47%), and the maximum increase was recorded at LADA Granta (+ 69.9%).
