Leading car markets of the world in 2018.jpg

Analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" has compiled the rating of the world's largest car markets in 2018. The undisputed leader here is the Chinese vehicle market, in which 23.8 million new passenger and light commercial vehicles were sold during the year, which is less by 4.1% than the result of 2017.

In the second place there is the American market (17.3 million units), which grew only by 0.6% in the last year. The third position was occupied by Japan, in which car sales amounted to 5.3 million units (+ 0.1%). The title of the best European market is held consistently by Germany. Last year, 3.4 million vehicles (-0.2%) were sold in this country, which allowed it to keep the fourth place of the rating. India closes the TOP-five with 3.4 million sold vehicles (+ 4.8%).

TOP-10 also included Brazil (2.5 million units; + 13.8%), Great Britain (2.4 million units; -6.8%), France (2.2 million units; +3 %), Canada (2 million units, -2.2%) and Italy (1.9 million units; -3.1%). Outside the TOP-ten there was South Korea (1.8 million units; + 1.3%). Russia in this rating managed to hold on to the 12th position, which was also occupied in 2017: sales of cars in our country amounted to 1.8 million units, which is more by 12.8% than in the last year. Obviously, for a higher position in the rating table, it lacked quite a bit - literally 7 thousand units.

Mexico (1.4 million units; -7.1%), Spain (1.3 million units; + 7%) and Iran (1.2 million units; -23.1) close the list of the 15 leading global markets. We should note that about a half of the world markets that are in the TOP-15, showed a negative trend in 2018. Only two of them - Brazilian and Russian - showed double-digit growth.
