TOP-10 of models-leaders of the Russian SUV market in 2018

For the last year, 1 million 671.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is more by 13.3% than in the last year. At the same time, in December of 2018, sales of new cars were 158.3 thousand units, which is more by 3.9% than a year ago. As for crossovers and SUVs, their sales in January-December grew by 18.1% in compare with 2017 and they were 729.2 thousand cars. The segment's share in total sales grew by 1.7 percentage points and reached 43.6%.

The model rating is headed by Hyundai Creta (67,588 units; + 22.2%). In the second place - Renault Duster (41,409 units; -5.5%), behind which it is located the Volkswagen Tiguan (33,530 units; + 21.2%). The fourth place of the rating table is occupied by LADA 4x4 (32 949 units; + 13.3%), and the TOP-five is closed by KIA Sportage (32,667 units; + 32.7%). The TOP-10 also includes: Toyota RAV4 (31,155 units; -5.4%), Renault Kaptur (30,042 units; - 3%), Chevrolet Niva (29,235 units; -6.3%), Mitsubishi Outlander (24,511 units; + 45.7%) and Nissan Qashqai (23,192 units; + 14.7%).
Most of them (6 of 10) show a positive trend. Chevrolet Niva (-6.3%), Renault Duster (-5.5%), Toyota RAV4 (-5.4%), Renault Kaptur (-3%) are in the “minus”.

As for December statistics, the sales of SUVs grew by 3.9% to 73.1 thousand units this month. The share of the segment remained the same as in December of 2017 (46.2%). In the model ranking the leader is the same as at the end of 2018 as a whole - Hyundai Creta. Toyota RAV4 came out to the second position. Third place went to the Volkswagen Tiguan. W should note also that in December, the sales of Skoda Kodiaq grew almost 7 times.
