In 2018, sales of passenger cars and LCV in our country, according to the AEB, amounted to 1 million 800 591 units - more by 12.8% than in 2017. At the end of December of the last year, there was also a positive trend (+ 5.6% to 175,240 cars).

The TOP-10 of manufacturers is led by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group, which sold 648,795 vehicles for the year, which corresponds to a market share of 36%. KIA-Hyundai is in the second place with 407,684 sold units and a market share of 22.6%. The third place is occupied by the Volkswagen Group with a volume of 211,420 cars and a share of 11.7%. Thus, these groups together occupy more than 70% of the Russian car market. Among the ten represented automaker groups, the market growth was observed in nine of them, and only the domestic UAZ showed a slight drop (-0.9%). The Japanese Mazda grew more than other manufacturers: its sales over the last year increased by 22.3%.

For the first time, LADA Vesta became the leader among the models, by showing the highest market dynamics in the TOP-20 (+ 40.2%) and moving the 2017 best seller - KIA Rio from the first line of the sales ranking. In 2018, 108,364 of LADA Vesta cars were sold. Further, with a sales volume of 106,325 units (+ 13.5%), the domestic model LADA Granta also follows. In the third position – there is Korean KIA Rio with the indicator of 100,148 units (+ 3.6%). Hyundai Сreta, with 67,588 units (+ 22.2%), ranked the fourth, by pushing its “counterpart of the assembly line” Hyundai Solaris (65,581 cars) to the fifth position.

Last year, in addition to the Hyundai Solaris, which showed a fall (-4.4%), four more models from the first twenty showed a negative trend: Renault Duster (-5.5%), Toyota RAV4 (-5.4%), Renault Logan (-1.2%), Renault Kaptur (-3%) and Chevrolet Niva (-6.3%). Moreover, Chevrolet Niva has the strongest fall in sales.
