According to the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, for the first 9 months of this year, the volume of the secondary car market in Russia has practically reached 4 million units. It is more by 1.9% than a year ago. At the same time, market growth is observed both in the mass and in the premium segment.

The share of resale of mass-produced cars accounted for slightly more than 90% of the whole secondary market, which is equivalent to about 3.6 million units (+ 2.1%). Domestic LADA is leading here, the volume of the secondary market of which for the reporting period exceeded 1 million cars, which is less by 3.6% than in January-September of 2017. Among the foreign cars, Russians buy the most often used cars Toyota (444.5 thousand units; + 2.3%). Also in the secondary market there are popular products from such manufacturers as Nissan, Hyundai, KIA, Chevrolet, Ford, Volkswagen, Renault, etc. We should note that in the TOP-20 brands in terms of market volume, in addition to LADA, domestic UAZ (-2.9%) and GAZ (-17.9%) also demonstrate negative dynamics. And among the foreign cars in the "minus" there are Daewoo (-6.6%) and Peugeot (-0.9%). The rest brands show the growth in the secondary market.

The premium segment accounted for about 10% of the used car market. Quantitatively, this amounted to 375.5 thousand units (+ 0.6%). Three German brands are traditionally in the TOP three: Mercedes-Benz (93.4 thousand units), BMW (85.3 thousand units), Audi (71.2 thousand units). But if the first two show the market growth (+ 0.3% and + 1.7%, respectively), then the third one - a fall (-1.5%). At the same time, apart from Audi, Volvo (-1.2%) and Jeep (-7.2%) are also in the negative zone.
