Parc of cars in Russia key figures.jpg

According to the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", 42.4 million cars are registered on the territory of the Russian Federation (as of January 1s, 2018). We have 10 regional parcs in the country, the volume of each of which is at least 1 million cars.

In addition to Moscow (3.71 million units) and Moscow region (2.62 million units), the share of which was 15% totally, it also includes the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg, Rostov and Sverdlovsk regions, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Chelyabinsk and Samara region. If we consider the brand structure of the parc of cars, then here also 10 brands have parcs, exceeding 1 million units.
The largest parcs are belonged to domestic LADA (13.87 million units), and among foreign cars Toyota (3.76 million units) is the leader. Also this group includes Nissan, Hyundai, KIA, Renault, Chevrolet, Volkswagen, Ford and Mitsubishi, the figures of which are 1 - 2 million units. In total, foreign cars own 61% of the parc.

We should also note that the Russian parc is quite old, because over half (54%) of passenger cars are over the age of 10 years. The share of cars that meet the environmental standards of at least "Euro-5" is 13% of the total volume. Approximately the every fifth car in Russia is an SUV or a crossover (22%). And diesel passenger cars have only a share of 5%.
