The market of commercial vehicles slowed the growth at the end of 2012

Ford Transit.jpgAccording to Committee of commercial vehicle makers of AEB, sales of light commercial vehicles were 188,095 vehicles in Russia for 2012, which is a 7% increase on a YOY basis.

GAZ still keeps the leadership in the Russian market of LCV – 90,247 vehicles of this Russian brand were sold the last year, which corresponds to the level of the previous year. UAZ is in the second place, which increased sales of light commercial vehicles by 6% to 27,885 units. Volkswagen closes the row of three leaders with 16,161 sold LCV, which is a 31% increase on the last year.

Sales of commercial vehicles with a capacity of 6-16 tonnes grew by 14% to 11,522 units for 2012. Hyundai is still the leader with 4,208 sold vehicles (-20%). Mitsubishi-Fuso (2,026 units, +86%) is in the second place, Hino (1779 units, +61%) is in the third one.

The segment of heavy trucks with a capacity over 16 tonnes decreased by 12% to 18,507 units for 2012. At the same time MAN occupied the first place, sales of which grew by 6% to 7,620 units. Scania (5823 units, -14%) and “Ural” (5292 units, -48%) are also in the TOP-3. It is worth nothing that KAMAZ doesn’t provide data in the Committee of commercial vehicle makers of AEB. As previously reported, KAMAZ delivered almost 41,000 vehicles KAMAZ for a sale in dealer network of Trade and finance company KAMAZ and also for the direct clients and corporate clients in 2012.

The segment of buses decreased by 2% in 2012 and it was 5,202 vehicles. PAZ (1916 units, +17%), “LiAZ” (1839 units, -15%) and KAVZ (549 units, +6%) are still the leaders of Russian bus market.

According to Committee of commercial vehicle makers of AEB, results of the IV quarter of 2012 were lower than they were predicted. The segment of trucks over 16 tonnes suffered most of all. At the same time AEB finds it difficult to explain what the reason of this drop: maybe it is the crisis in Euro zone or it is the introduction of scrappage fee from September 1st, rates of which are very high in the segment of heavy trucks.
