SEAT will show three new models in Russia in 2013


Seat Leon.jpgSEAT Company will launch three new models in the Russian market in 2013. Ibiza CUPRA and new Leon (five-door hatchback) will appear at the end of spring and minivan Alhambra will be in the market in summer. The head of SEAT brand, Roman Kuzmin, informed about it in the interview with MotorPage.Ru and he remarked that the model range expansion will make SEAT brand the more visible in the Russian market. 

According to Mr. Kuzmin, the important strategic step for brand will be the production of compact crossover, which will be the nearest three years. “The stable growth of crossover and SUV segment shows the demand for these vehicles in the Russian market”, - supposes Roman Kuzmin.

SEAT is going to produce the first serial crossover by 2015, informed earlier the president of Spanish company, James Muir. According to Mr. Myuir, the closest prototype to the serial production will be shown in one of European motor shows in the next two years. SEAT is going to sell about 100,000 crossovers annually. In the nearest future the company expects a substantial increase in worldwide sales in 2013 due to the launch of new models – Toledo and Leon new generation. Now the line of SEAT models includes the all-wheel drive mono cab Altea Freetrack with increased road clearance.

According to Mr. Kuzmin, the more conservative buyers are still choosing cars of compact-class in Russia. “We will start to fight for this customer since the launch of new Toledo in the Russian market – the practice, spacious and comfort liftback of SEAT brand”, - he said.

In addition the head of SEAT in Russia supposes that the Spanish brand won’t be mass, it is clear. “It is a niche brand globally presented in A, B, C- segments. And we are going to occupy our place in the Russian market, which is still focused on youth and sport”, - remarked Roman Kuzmin.

Russian dealers of SEAT sold 2,500 cars for 2012, which is a 22% increase on a YOY basis. According to the company, the achieved results were possible due to the active work of dealer centres since the moment of joining of SEAT Russia with “Volkswagen Group Rus” in March, 2012.
